My load times for HLL games was pretty abysmal--it wasn't unusual for it to take two minutes or more to get into games. (While others on Discord were talking in-game strategy, I was twiddling my thumbs waiting to get in. Note that I have fiber internet, so connection speed wasn't the issue.) Recently I installed a solid state drive (SSD) and moved my Steam library onto it, and the difference is amazing. Now it's typical for me to be one the first players into a game. (I'm still getting used to having basically any role available to me!) Very worthwhile purchase.

Just in case you didn't know, you can have two seperate steam libraries on each your SSD and your HDD in order to do that go to steam settings (top left corner) -> Downloads -> steam library folders, add library folder. now you have a top down menu to select your drives & partitions
SSD changed my computing experience entirely. From gaming to developing project videos, SSDs lead the way. They're just so much faster.
All in all, I still find that the 80 percent rule applies. Above 80 percent storage capacity, I've noticed similar instability as traditional disc-based drives. Also, my 4TB SSD will sometime go through a search cycle. I believe this is because I never partitioned the drive. For optimum performance, I suggest partioning large drives to 2TB or even 1TB.
BTW, if anyone needs a new SSD drive, or you are looking to upgrade to SSD from a standard or hybrid drive, consider visiting the gear shop here in camp. There's no additional fee for using camp links, and every purchase helps support the HLLTC.
In college I got a laptop that had a 5800 rpm HDD. Took over 1:30 to boot up. Put a SSD in it instead and I could click the power button and then start using the laptop in under 15 seconds. I will never go back!!
